Who we are
This website is operated by AIA Cars Limited trading as Connect Cars, the controller responsible for the personal information covered by this notice. You can contact us at info@connectprivatehire.co.uk or write to 42B Royal Park Road, Leeds, LS6 1HX. You can also call 01132 43 33 33.
What this notice covers
This notice covers visits to connectprivatehire.co.uk and enquiries sent through its forms, by email or by phone. Local bookings are handled through Autocab, and airport bookings through Connect Airports. Those services provide their own booking and privacy information. Read that information when you use them; this page does not replace it.
Information we use
- Enquiries: your name, email address, optional phone number, subject or business name, and the message you provide.
- Correspondence: the information you give us when following up an enquiry, asking about a corporate account or expressing interest in driving with us.
- Technical information: our hosting service may record your IP address, requested pages, browser information and access times in server logs. The enquiry service uses a hashed network address and timestamps for short-term abuse prevention.
Please do not send card details, identity documents, driver licence documents or sensitive information through the general enquiry form. If further information is needed, our team will discuss how to provide it.
Why we use it and our legal bases
- To answer questions and arrange services: we use the information needed to take steps at your request before entering a contract, or to perform a contract.
- To manage general correspondence and business relationships: we rely on our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and running a private hire business, while considering your rights.
- To consider driver enquiries: we use the information you provide to respond to your request and discuss opportunities. Any later recruitment or licensing checks require additional information at that stage.
- To protect the website: we rely on our legitimate interests in preventing spam, abuse and technical problems.
- To meet legal obligations: we retain or share information when applicable law requires it.
The required fields on our enquiry forms allow us to understand your request and reply. If you do not provide them, we may be unable to respond through the form. Sending an enquiry does not subscribe you to marketing.
Who receives information
Website enquiries are sent to info@connectprivatehire.co.uk for the Connect Cars team to handle. Our website hosting and email providers process information to deliver and protect these services. Relevant information may be shared with people arranging your requested service, professional advisers, or authorities where legally required. We do not publish enquiry messages on the website.
Following a booking or app-store link takes you to another service. Information you enter there is handled through that service. See Connect Airports’ privacy notice for airport bookings, and the privacy information presented by Autocab or the app store for their services.
How long information is kept
Retention depends on the purpose and type of record. Enquiry correspondence is kept for the period needed to respond, resolve follow-up questions and manage the resulting relationship. Where an enquiry becomes a booking, account or driver relationship, relevant records may need to be kept longer for contractual, accounting, licensing or other legal requirements, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.
Technical logs and abuse-prevention records are used for security and troubleshooting. The website’s form-throttling records expire after one hour and expired records are removed during subsequent form requests. Contact us if you need information about the retention of a particular record or want to request deletion.
International processing
Some service providers linked from this website may process information outside the UK. Their privacy information explains where and how they do so. Where we arrange a transfer of personal information outside the UK, applicable UK data-protection transfer requirements must be met. Contact us for information about the providers involved in your enquiry and any relevant safeguards.
Automated help and WhatsApp
Our automated website guide answers common questions using preset information. Messages typed into it stay in the current page and are not sent to us or saved by the guide. It cannot view or change bookings. Selecting the WhatsApp link opens WhatsApp, where you choose whether to send a message to our team on 0113 243 3333. The website conversation is not automatically forwarded. Messages you send through WhatsApp are handled by our team and WhatsApp under their respective privacy arrangements. Please do not send card details or sensitive documents through the chat.
Cookies and similar technologies
The redesigned pages do not set advertising or analytics cookies, embed social-media trackers or load third-party maps. The navigation and enquiry forms do not need browser cookies or local storage. Our hosting service may use essential security measures to operate and protect the website.
Photos, styles and scripts used by these pages are served from our own website. External services—including Autocab, Connect Airports, Apple and Google Play—have their own cookie arrangements when you visit them. Your browser lets you manage stored cookies and site data.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access your personal information, correct inaccurate details, erase information, restrict its use, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or receive information in a portable form. If processing relies on consent, you may withdraw that consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. Rights are subject to applicable conditions and exemptions.
Email info@connectprivatehire.co.uk to make a request. We may need to verify your identity and will respond within the time required by law. The website enquiry service does not make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects through automated decision-making.
Questions or complaints
Please contact us first if you have a concern. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, or telephone 0303 123 1113.
